This is the second version of of this scene, the first being this image below, Red and Orange Merging. Once again, my thanks to Lynn for her photo that inspired me to paint these images.

With Hidden Sunset above, I wanted to take this idea to a larger size and convey the scene after the brightest part of the sunset. Since the suns glare is reduced, the land and the cloud forms yield more detail in layer after layer.

It is amazing to work on the clouds and land in this way. The slightest change in color or shape can have a profound effect. The uppermost cloud section changed numerous times, much like cloud watching. The clouds would change slightly each time new paint was applied. There were a number of instances when the cloud was painting itself, yielding new forms and I was the watcher.

It was an interesting experience that I really didn't want to end but finally, all the shapes and colors came together it a way that accommodated the last light of the sun but just enough to add intensity to the colors everywhere.
