Workshop: Parker Artists' Guild, Colorado 2012

I want to thank the Parker Artist Guild for sponsoring me at their workshop last week. The day went fast with a lot of good ideas flowing onto new canvases and pastels. The workshop was stimulating and successful on a lot of levels. I saw a lot of good works getting better and new ways of approaching problems being put into practice. It was a great day at the 'office.'

"A good time was had by all! Thank you!"
Barbara, Workshop organizer and attendee

"It was a great work shop, I highly recommend Kens workshops."

In the Studio: in progress March 17, 2012

Workin' it.  Here is a Saturday am studio shot of 4 oils and one pastel.  All of these works are in progress.  I do like to lay the unfinished canvases inside the 'floater' frames on the left.  They look different in the frames and it helps me to sometimes see what the artwork needs.  The one on the center easel is 4x5 feet. Top left, 4x4 feet and the lake on the lower left is 40x40 inches. Bottom right is 24x24 inches.  The pastel on the upper left is 22x22 inches.

I have my work cut out for me today!

Workshop: Parker, CO March 2012

Thanks to the Parker Artists Guild, Colorado, I'll be giving a workshop
Saturday, March 24, 9:30 - 3:30.

Price for Guild members is $45 and non-members $55.
Location: Stroh Ranch Firehouse, 19301 Stroh Road, Parker80138

You can view my flyer and sign up online

In this workshop I'll discuss strategies for creating better artworks with a variety
of common and creative tools. I'll demonstrate the strategies for making
strong starts and dramatic finishes.

In addition to making art works, we'll discuss art business practices and promotion, a necessity for the successful artist in the marketplace.  There will be serious discussions, laughs, and your questions.

We will all come away with new tools to take your art to the next level.

You are invited to bring whatever you wish to paint with and work on.  Bring works to start, works in progress, and/or  finished works to evaluate.  There will be a lot of conversation about the mental aspects of making good art by design and experiment.  You will have more tools to get the breakthroughs for your next big successes.

I'll bring some finished works to share with the group.  Hope to see you there!

For Fun: Artists do the most amazing things

Artists do the most amazing things:  Follow this link to some remarkable film-making.  http://www.wimp.com/carnivalparty/
The music coupled with tilt-shift and time-lapse photography is mesmerizing.
It's a must see.
The tilt-shift technique makes Rio and the Carnival look like something out of a toy box.
