September Newsletter, 2025

September News:

The final test of a painting, does the painter’s emotion come across?
Franz Klein

That is the point of the two new images shown this month. The original idea came from a photo of a hillside, shot on a hazy, overcast day with very little color. After many attempts, what began to come through wasn't the accuracy of the scene at all. Instead, it was about how the painting could go much further than representation and that's when the bold, emotional ideas took hold.

Offering the last, Making it Fine Art Workshop of the Year
These classes are a spirited place where we all contribute to the idea of expanding as artists. The workshops inspire me too and now it's time to take all the enthusiasm and put it to canvas!

If you’d like to jump in, join me for the Making it Fine Art Workshop in Castle Rock, CO (Denver Metro) from October 3 - 5. There is only one spot left, so don’t wait too long to register!

Also, I host day-long 'paint alongs' for $50 where we are both painting separately and we huddle for problem solving. The use of my paints are included. Send me an email if you are interested... It's very informative, casual and great fun. email Ken

About this oil
American Art Collector Magazine:
"Elliott's canvases display the strikingly vivid modern hues in which he chooses to render his contemporary landscapes."

Southwest Art Magazine:
Although his paintings loosely reference photographs and plein-air sketches, they refuse to exist within the confines of already-prescribed images.

Rather, they stand independent of any specific place or time, the fulfilled pursuits of the artist’s visual and intellectual explorations.

Elliott wields color boldly, creating sizzling, vibrant shapes that are at once kinetic and placid, grounded in unifying illumination, and focused compositions.

He has a fascination with line structure as well, believing that “edges empower colors.”

Private Lessons and studio visits:
I have really enjoyed giving private lessons individually or with groups over the years. It is casual, focused and fun. It is always a pleasure welcoming collectors into my studio, please email me a call to arrange a time.

The workshops are very stimulating and you will see a big result in your approach to making fine art and clarity on your career strategies. Let's discuss what works best for you.
